Doing the right thing

It’s easy to impose one’s principles on others, it’s also easy living it in one’s life in reasonable comfort, but when it entails tremendous risks to self and family, then there is the true test of one’s principles.

That is what Alwin’s dad has done, with the current labor problems at work, he has taken the side of the workers where the other top people in the company dared not risk the almost certain losing of their jobs. Alwin’s dad also risked the application for work he was invited to make in the US. With his high position at the company, workers there could not believe what he has done, they were close to tears.

I am so happy and so proud of him. Like my dad, he grew up in a poor family, having to work carrying rice and small timber up the mountain in Batangas. He never knew the affluent life in youth, and although he may be fairly fortunate now with work, the affluence of work never went to his head, apparently, as he is now prepared to give it up for what is right.
