Getting stuff done

Posted by: Fats in: What and Why

I’ve just started a “to-do list” here and I thought that maybe if I look at it everyday and work through it slowly each day everyday, then I’d actually get things done.

1. Get the KURO Satellites started.
I guess this going along nicely with Al handling the coordination of the satellites. I do get a bit anxious about delegating work but Al makes me feel comfortable with FMA getting the work done. I guess I give Cris the same feeling, that he feels confident the WebSining project is moving on as planned.
2. Get a visa to Australia. Hopefully the invitation arrives this week so I can start the application process on Monday. The embassy now has an outsource/callcenter that handles all visa matters. It is of course much more efficient given the volume of applications. I always feel anxious with visa applications but that feeling doesn’t really help with anything. Better to relax, do the necessary paper work and let things go as they should. I might visit an old BBS friend when I’m in Makati City for the visa, although I feel a bit hesitant about it. Hmmm… maybe because I don’t like the way she perceives me - although she’s a nice friend there’s something uncomfortable about her. So I think it is better to trust my instincts, keep on the visa track and not divert.
3. Prepare for the KURO in GenSan. This is moving on much better than any of the Manila-based KURO satellites with a really good contact there. I really look forward to this KURO satellite!
4. Organize a MyBookProject. Okay, I’ve put together as many of my past writings in one folder, I will still need to look for old writing in my archives (or somewhere out here on the internet). I’m thinking of getting a book together, kind of like a “retrospective” that artists have with their exhibitions. I just thought about this because I do consider my writing as my “art” works.
5. Start the CultureComputingEcology project. I still have this really good old Turbo Pascal book that my  BBS friend lent me (or gave me) nearly 10 years ago! It’s a great “introduction to the art and science of programming.” Thanks, Bobby! :)
6. Wish: start a simple food business. :) Hmmm… I might need to go back to Burma for ideas and inspiration with this one. :)
7. Wish: live in a clean safe place outside Manila. :) I might go with Alwin to Pagbilao, Quezon for the brief All Souls Day (a national holiday, November 1). Last I was there was probably 2001, and it would really be nice to be able to go back. Well, just for a short stay but at least, it’s a clean safe place outside the city. :) I’m also getting booked for the trip to General Santos City, which should be my second visit to Mindanao.

Now I can sit back and relax. ;) Oftentimes, things just happen without really trying to do too much, like my pepper plants. Now I have two peppers growing. It seems that there are varieties of peppers that don’t fruit from seed (well I could use the leaves for soupor stew), which I had rather plenty of, then just recently managed to plant some that could actually fruit. I’ve planted several more peppers just a few days ago - so if they fruit then they do if they don’t then they don’t. No use trying to fuss over them! :)
