One day at a time

Perhaps the first most empowering thing to do is recognize where we are in the tide of emotions, and once known, take the appropriate action not to be swept away. The numbness of depression renders everything to a full stop - the future is just too difficult to even imagine and the pains of the past return with even greater despair.
Fortunately, it became possible to stay in bed and rest. Rest was possible only after it became clear that there is no pressure to cope with the future or even the next day. All that matters is today, and surely there is dinner time with the family to look forward to. I could surely last until then.
I woke up for dinner, feeling better, and over dinner, Alwin showed me a drawing he just made. It was a drawing of products in an exhaust pipe and fuel tank shop and a tire shop. It was so beautiful! He invented those funny exhaust pipe and fuel tank designs with their own names and numbers, and four tire designs one of them only for bike. I told him, hey I thought those are stomachs and intestines!

Earlier this morning, Alwin and I watched TV together (we watched that corny morning gag program), and he played in the garden with me. But I was really too down to keep going, so before noon time, I had to just stop and rest. I felt a bit guilty not being with him the whole afternoon but when I woke up, feeling better, Alwin was still there for me - and with a wonderful drawing.
Yes, one day at a time.
