					<description>When I think back, I still wouldn't regret saying he was indeed a "monster." In fact, he kept telling me "if you'd seen me years back in Holland..." suggesting he was even more monstrous before! And one of his ideas on "survival of the fittest" suggests that changing the environment changes people, so I can imagine that, despite last few years being there in relative isolation, he was shaped heavily by Dutch society (and his responses to it) over the past 30 years, and perhaps now, contrary to the adage "you can't teach an old dog new tricks", he has been somewhat changed by the Philippine environment (yes, despite his age). I think Dutch state systems and support (as in other wealthy countries with such welfare and social systems) make it rather easy to survive in isolation, but here, even dead people live in the company of the living! ;) Life is complex and whatever happens, I certainly wish for the better.</description>
