What I want to learn, woof!

Ages ago, my caregiver downloaded a book called “The Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs” by H. Abelson, G.J. Sussman, and J. Sussman (MIT Press and McGraw-Hill). Several weeks ago, she was finally able to print all +600 pages of the book (I do find printed pages easier on the eyes for reading rather than loads of text on the screen).

I have been reading SICP with much delight because it somehow allows me to have a broad, unrestricted view of the different programming paradigms that I was compelled to shuffle through separately in the other two books that I have been reading (”Learn Prolog Now” and “Turbo Pascal”).

So I just realized that when I set out to make this website “Edward’s CnC”, what I really wanted to do was to appreciate computation as an intellectual activity, and thus computer programming as a powerful medium for controlling large complex systems. I did not simply want to learn using a programming language; I wanted to study the implementation and linguistic aspect of programming paradigms!

OK, so what do I do with the other two books?

Hmmm … actually, I might need a better Prolog book (or maybe not since SICP has a section on logic programming), but the Turbo Pascal is not bad at all if one understands it’s pedagogical limitations. Or is that pedadog? ;)

My caregiver Fatima also told me that her cousin Grace was going to send me a Canadian Mail-Order Puppy Doggie Bride. Hmmm… actually I already have a Filipina girlfriend, her name is Maria. When Maria heard about the Canadian bride she remarked that when it arrives she’d be at the door with a cleaver!
