Finally home after some 6 weeks in Baclayon, Bohol!

And an update on Kitty3:  Because my mom didn’t want to have another (female) cat, we earlier thought of bringing the tiny kitten along with us to Bohol. I rang up the cargo section of Cebu Pacific and was told that I can’t hand-carry the kitten and that I will need to keep the kitten in a cage/kennel, and have a Vet’s certificate as well! It was simply not enough describing to the cargo section that what I had was a really tiny kitten …

So, with fingers crossed, I decided to bring Kitty3 to my aunt for safekeeping until we return. I wasn’t sure if she’d be welcome in my aunt’s house since people could be busy. Besides, there are dogs in the house too.

Just a day before our flight to Bohol, we took Kitty3 to my aunt’s house and their househelper was so kind enough to take Kitty3! We were so relieved! :) At the same time, we were worried that Kitty3 wouldn’t survive … she had just started to eat solid food.

When we arrived from Bohol 6 weeks later, we headed to auntie’s house to check on Kitty3. Here is a photo of her:

The little kitten is now a little monster who chases away the dogs in the house! :)

Also, my aunt loves Kitty3 and wants to keep her - in fact, everybody in the house loves Kitty3. :) Wow! :)

So, after that trip to my aunt’s, we decided to go to my mom’s to check out KittyKitty. Here’s a photo of her:

What used to be a little KittyKitty is now a gigantic, big, fat, frisky cat! :)

Of course, just when we are about to leave for Bohol, a new Kitty shows up!

And she looks so much like Kitty1 and KittyKitty! Another pain in the ass when she grows up no doubt! ;)

A bit of net art and poetry

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Just got this bit of spam mail - but I must say that this is pretty good. ;) Also came with some poetry:

To the middle fortall of them except the stoners, whereby
the opposition made to them, and the conspiracy away, o
monarch, thy son duhsasana, o king, remained of wealth produces
misery, and even they that pinch of snuff, that olive branch
of the portuguese…

His daughter, matali entered the nether regions.’ hurry.
the panamanian said nothing more, as if when he saw a beautiful
young face it reminded years, confining himself every day
to only one revived it. Takshaka thereupon tempted him,

Back at home sweet home

Visited my mom’s today and the other day to bring some gifts, and to pick up our own gifts. :) Also the chance to see Kitty. We brought some cat food and kitty litter. Seems that the folks at home are having a problem disciplining her. Toilet training is very easy it’s just that nobody at home has the patience or skill, unlike before, my mom had a maid who could discipline and train all the cats and dogs, she was even the one who castrated the cats - just tied the little things with an elastic until they dried and fell off! ;)

But getting Kitty to behave like George and Fortun is going to be impossible. Kitty is still a kitten (maybe 3 months) and she is of course very playful, diving onto people’s feet, scratching and running about.

Kitty still enjoys playing with Trevor. Her bites and scratches are no longer as bad as when she was a small kitty some 5-8 weeks back.

Soon, Trevor and I will need to bring her to the vet … or maybe the vet can come over to my mom’s house. I remember the vet who came to the NICA center in Burma, he operated on two cats (one was already pregnant) in one of the rooms. I learned later that it was tough trying to get a vet who was willing to do vasectomy and spaying (and abortion) in a Buddhist country.

Kitty and Edward on the chair. Edward got beaten up by Kitty, of course, just like old times.

It is nice to be back in Manila, although we often wish that we were living in Kerala. The food there really beats everywhere else. If I was vegetarian I would live there - it is a fantastic place for vegetarians where vegetarian food is not about TVP (textured vegetable protein) or mock meat.

There will be more chores to mind shortly - immigration, dentists, medical check-ups. And of course, the journey back to Baclayon, Bohol. Then finally, settling down.

While still too tired to cook, we’ve been eating out lately. Much has changed at the mall - there is now the new annex building. Much of prices has also gone up. :(

We saw the regular bomb-sniffing dogs and their friendly handler, and greeted Happy New Year! One of the bomb-sniffing dogs was behaving strangely though, he had his ears to the floor and his butt in the air. It was so funny. Some people were looking and chuckling, others took photos with their mobile phone camera. The dog’s handler was visibly embarrassed. Too bad I didn’t have my camera then. Anyway, below is a photo of Edward imitating the bomb-sniffer dog. :)

Back on-line

Took a while to get things sorted, but Korakora is now back on-line after a transfer to a new hosting service. Could be a bit nerve-wracking, getting the back-ups and making sure everything gets restored to the new server properly. So far so good.

Except for the mailing list (Mailman). It seems that Mailman is no longer being supported on a number of Linux hosting services. There is PHPList which seems alright although I’m not in the mood right now for setting up the mailing list.

It has been an extremely busy weekend - getting the new CopySouth (test) website up online and soon preparing for my short presentation in Kerala. Earlier this week we’ve been busy getting Kitty settled in her new home - my mom’s! :)

We took Kitty there on Monday, my mom’s birthday. (A few days earlier, we brought Kitty there for a “dress rehearsal.” ;)

It all went pretty good. Kitty was a bit nervous, of course, hissing at people, and both George and Fortun weren’t too interested (except in Kitty’s food!). Then that evening, Alwin rang to tell me that her mom and Asel have been frightening poor Kitty! ;) Funny kid! :) Then I overheard Asel saying that wasn’t true! ;)

The following day we visited again, this time to pick my mom up for lunch at a new Greek restaurant nearby. Of course, that was also the chance to see how Kitty was doing and to bring her more cat food. :)

Wednesday we visited again. ;) Well I really miss that pain in the ass! ;)

Tomorrow, Monday, would be Kitty’s first week in her new exciting home! :)

We plan to visit again, of course, with more cat food. ;)

Surely, I can say that Kitty has settled in very well, in fact, she now seems to own the house. :) Not too good on George and Fortun’s nerves!

Kitty now a Certified Pain in the Ass (CPA)

Monday, November 17th, 2008

At two months, Kitty is now a Certified Pain in the Ass! ;)

Below is a photo of her disrupting my work to have a peek at herself in the mirror! ;)

pain-in-the-ass-11.jpg

Last Sunday, Trevor and I decided to bring Kitty to my mom’s house for a short visit. The 10-minute walk frightened her - the noise of the cars, tricycles, people. First I had her in my bag, then she crawled out of it and clawed her way up to my chest - argh! ;)

So Trevor had to take her and then she clawed her way up to his head! Argh! ;)

We had to stop at the church and twice over the pavement to rest and give her some kitty pellets. She seemed comforted by the food, and also seemed comforted by seeing me as we walked.

When we got to my mom’s house George and Fortun were there! Oh boy! :)

Alwin got very excited too but he calmed down a bit when he saw that poor little Kitty was so nervous. Actually, Alwin was quite good but of course any slight noise and movement from anybody other than Trevor and me scared poor little Kitty!

After over an hour or so, we took Kitty back home. Alwin asked when we were bringing Kitty back. He really liked little Kitty especially when she was playing on the flower box, exploring the plants, rocks and cacti. The cacti especially got Alwin excited - well, both Alwin and Trevor cringed when Kitty climbed over the cacti! Although Trevor cringed for the poor cactus (which got uprooted) and Alwin cringed for poor Kitty (she got pricked a little bit).

Overall, Trevor said that Kitty did very well. At least, she didn’t run away or jump up a tree or cornered herself somewhere we couldn’t find or retrieve her. It was very exhausting, though! :) When we got her back home, she ate and slept - just as exhausted by the adventure. Now she is back to being a pain in the ass. I made a few toys for her with string, cardboard and the plastic egg container which gave her many happy hours running and jumping.

But now she is a pain in the ass again. I guess once a CPA always a CPA! ;)

We do hope she will mellow down as she gets older. :)

In the meantime, we heard another kitten crying outside. Trevor and I are thinking of getting it again - for Kitty to play with. They say it is better to have two kittens at home rather than one who will grow up with a PhD in Pain-in-the-Assology! ;)
